Back in July I had a nice sunny morning of snorkelling at Moses Point in North Saanich, BC. It was quite a contrast to my latest visit to that site.
Current was negligible and the tide height was only 0.8 metres. The vertical visibility was about 4 metres and the water temperature was 15 C so I was able to spend about 100 minutes there in only a short 3 mm tropical wetsuit.
I used standard scuba fins that day, instead of longer freediving ones, because the low water level made it unnecessary to do much diving to see marine life in the intertidal zone. Long fins are superb for depth and distance but shorter ones can be more convenient for casually poking around in the shallows.
