The shore access location I used for snorkelling this morning was at the end of Amherst Avenue in Sidney. On Google Maps it is labeled as a kayak launch. I am the only person I have ever seen there with any sort of paddle craft but I have been there fewer than 10 times for any purpose.
Since the low sun kept me in the shadow of trees for much of my Sunday morning dive at Ardmore I chose this location on the east side of the Saanich Peninsula for better illumination. Unfortunately, the forecast mix of sun and cloud was a bit too optimistic and I only had a couple of minutes of full sunlight.
For the first time my marine dry bag got a little bit of water in it but not enough to discourage me from using it as a highly visible tow float in which to keep my clothes and other small items.
